Nunavut Film has revised guidelines and application processes for all programs and is pleased to announce the creation of a new program, the 'Inuktut Versioning Fund for Existing Programming'.

The Government of Nunavut Department of Culture and Heritage has granted additional funding to support the use of the Inuit language (Inuktut) in films, television and digital media. This support realizes the Government of Nunavut’s commitment under Uqausivut Plan, the government’s roadmap to implement the Official Languages Act and Inuit Language Protection Act.

One hundred twenty pictures had originally qualified in the category and 'Throat Song' is one of 10 live action short films that will advance in the voting process for the 86th Academy Awards®.
